Boardbags and travel bags
For the outer material of your board- or travel bag, you have the choice between silver foil and hard-wearing and tear-resistant material (such as 600D polyester/nylon). Some manufacturers also offer a mix of both, where one side of the bag is equipped with silver foil so that your board is also well protected in the sun. The thickness of the padding is usually between 4 and 10 mm. For a fully airworthy travel bag, we would recommend padding from 8mm upwards. Nevertheless, we recommend additional protection for a flight. This can be done with bubble wrap, for example. The company Flexi-Hex offers interesting and environmentally friendly protection. We have also had good experiences with a slightly thicker yoga mat that you can attach to the underside and rails with tape and wrap over the nose and tail. It's best to choose the size of your Wingsurf Travelbag so that you still have some space left for additional protection. With an additional 2" (for a board with a length of 5'4 use a bag with a length of 5'6) you are normally on the safe side. The larger, airworthy board bags not only have room for your board, but also for the rest of your wingsurf equipment.
Do you opt for a travel bag with or without wheels?
If you must travel to the nearest airport by train, nobody will envy you if you have to shoulder your board for lack of wheels and perhaps even have to drag along an additional bag. On the other hand, there are many airlines that only allow you to take sports baggage up to 20 kg or a maximum of 23 kg at an affordable price. A board bag without wheels saves weight, which may well correspond to the weight of an additional foil. If you have an additional piece of luggage with wheels and an extendable telescopic handle, you can perhaps place the wingsurf bag "on top" of your wheeled suitcase while towing and thus roll everything together. There are also board bags with detachable wheels! This allows you to remove the wheels before check-in and stow them elsewhere.
Foilbags
Foil bags usually offer space for your entire foil including mast, but sometimes also for one or two additional wings or kites. They help you to store your equipment in a protected and organized way. There are fully airworthy foil bags with wheels and a telescopic handle.
Foil cover
Foil covers protect your mast, foil or fuselage. They are available from various manufacturers to fit your foil.
