Woodboard
Woodboard: Austrian masterpieces for water sports
Woodboard is an Austrian manufacturer of high-quality kiteboards that has made a name for itself through innovation, sustainability and precision craftsmanship. Based at Lake Neusiedl, a hotspot for water sports enthusiasts, Woodboard produces boards that are appreciated both in the EU and internationally.
The company's founding and founder
Woodboard was founded by Manfred Kernstock, a pioneer in the field of board construction. He started building snowboards in the early 1980s and, among other things, was represented at the 1987 World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland. His passion for water sports led him to found Woodboard in 2011 to apply his expertise to the development of kiteboards. Manfred lost half a finger in an accident at work many years ago. However, that didn't stop him from shaping sensational boards and immortalized this misfortune in the unmistakable Woodboard logo.
Technical achievements and prominence
Woodboard is known for producing kiteboards that impress with their innovative construction and materials. One example is the CRBN kiteboard, which features a full 3D carbon construction and a wood core insert made of Paulownia and beech. This construction method ensures excellent water performance and durability.
Top products
Woodboard's top products include:
- CRBN: a freeride board that stands out for its versatility and performance.
- Litoral: The perfect balance between flex and rocker. This board can do it all!
- CHAME: The shape is identical to the CRBN. However, no carbon fiber is used here. Overall, a very popular board for those who want something softer.
- AKTAIA: A strapless board that impresses with its beauty and performance.
Sustainability and production
Woodboard places a high value on sustainability. All boards are manufactured in the EU, and the suppliers also come from the EU. The wood used meets strict environmental standards, which underlines the environmentally friendly production. From the production of all components for a Woodboard to touching water at Lake Neusiedl, it is less than 180 km!
